Dr. Yamen Akhras
Dr. Yamen Akhras earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Minnesota in 2012. He spent nine years as a general dentist, completing advanced training in dental implant placement and grafting procedures before pursuing specialty training at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
At UIC, Dr. Yamen not only completed a 3-year residency in Periodontics, but also earned his Master’s degree in Oral Sciences. He also served as Chief Resident (2023–2024) and was recognized with multiple honors for leadership, research, and education.

Dr. Akhras is deeply committed to advancing the field of periodontics while providing evidence-based, patient-focused care. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys life in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and three sons, where he can often be found playing soccer, biking, or building Legos with his kids.
